As a Water Resources Engineer, you will support the Senior Water Resources Engineer and wider Mine Water team by working on iconic Surface Water projects. Drive future ready outcomes and support the development of the Mine Water group capability in stormwater management and flood studies with both mining and urban environments.

Based from our Perth office, you will join a Mining Business who help their clients to optimise performance, boost profitability, and operate responsibly. We have a comprehensive understanding of the mining industry and current issues including decarbonisation and understand future ready strategies are critical to countering these issues, capitalising on opportunities, and adding value to businesses.

What you’ll do:

  • Assist and/or conduct rainfall, flow and flood assessments, including modelling, mapping, flood mitigation design, and risk assessments.
  • Assist in a range of water management related studies and investigations from pre-feasibility through to detailed design.
  • Support and assist in developing existing Mine Water group capability in stormwater management and flood studies (in both mining and urban environments).
  • Assist and/or develop hydrological, hydraulic, and probabilistic water balance models to assess surface water / runoff flows, peak flows and flood risk, and site water management requirements.
  • Assist and/or undertake designs of hydraulic and other water management structures for mine sites.
  • Entry level and/or support to project management, including project scoping, budget control, planning, development of schedules and coordination of staff.
  • Drive a culture of health and safety through Visible Felt Leadership.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Team Leader.

About you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field with a strong focus on hydrology and hydraulics.
  • CPEng and RPEQ status or working towards accreditation.
  • Display an aptitude or proficiency with hydraulic and flood modelling software (e.g. HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, and MIKE) and confident in determining the appropriate approach. As well as GoldSim for water balance studies.
  • Display an aptitude or proficiency with GIS (ArcGIS suite) applications.
  • Ability to demonstrate a resourceful approach to work, displaying initiative and decision-making skills.
  • Exemplify technical writing skills with experience in proposal writing and technical reporting.
  • Demonstrate competent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Basic analytical, modelling, and problem-solving skills

  • Good attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment.
