Role Overview: As a Principal Water Resource Engineer at WSP, you will hold a strategic leadership position, enhancing the capabilities and reputation of our Geo-Environment team. This role focuses on leading and influencing major projects in civil, infrastructure, renewable energy, and mining sectors, with a particular emphasis on water resources management, flood resilience, and climate change adaptation.

Location: Preferably Sydney, Australia; other locations considered for the right candidate.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development and delivery of innovative and sustainable surface water management solutions.
  • Lead complex projects in geo-environmental engineering, focusing on surface water assessments and designs to support various sectors across Australia and internationally.
  • Take a central role in developing high-level technical documents and environmental assessments for projects, driving technical quality and innovation.
  • Oversee technical project delivery, ensuring effective risk management and maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared project responsibilities.
  • Establish and maintain a track record and reputation of achievement, particularly in flood and drainage design projects, leveraging the latest innovations and technologies.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Hold a master's or equivalent advanced degree in Civil or Civil/Environmental Engineering, complemented by a postgraduate qualification in water resource management.
  • Possess professional accreditation such as CPEng and RPEQ (or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in water resource engineering, with a proven track record in leading projects through all stages of the lifecycle.
  • Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulic modeling software such as RORB, XP-RAFTS, TUFLOW, and GIS programs.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and a proven ability to mentor and develop engineers at all levels.
