Major Projects Executive – Road & Rail Infrastructure

Are you a seasoned leader in the delivery of transport infrastructure? We’re seeking a Major Projects Executive to lead the planning and execution of high-value transport projects across Queensland. This is a pivotal role for a strategic thinker with deep expertise in delivering complex, multidisciplinary projects.

As a Major Projects Executive, you will be responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale transport infrastructure projects, ensuring alignment with client expectations, safety standards, and strategic business outcomes. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and drive innovation across all phases of project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of major transport projects (typically >$10M), with a focus on transport infrastructure including road, rail, aviation and maritime infrastructure.
  • Manage complex project budgets and financial performance, ensuring profitability and margin protection.
  • Lead work-winning efforts, including bid strategy, proposal development, commercial strategy and client engagement to secure new major project opportunities.
  • Establish and maintain robust systems for risk management, compliance, and project governance.
  • Drive client-centric practices and maintain exceptional client relationships.
  • Champion Digital Engineering and Digital Delivery across project teams.
  • Mentor and coach project managers and technical staff, fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including government agencies and contractors.

What You Bring

  • 20+ years’ experience in transport infrastructure, with proven success in delivering complex, high-value projects.
  • Recognised national professional profile.
  • Expertise in managing large-scale budgets and interpreting financial statements.
  • Strong leadership in project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • · Demonstrate extensive experience delivering for key Queensland clients, including the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) and Queensland Rail.
  • Advanced proficiency in scope, time, cost, quality, SHEQ, and integration management.
  • Deep understanding of public and private sector processes and client engagement.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered or Fellow level membership of a relevant industry body, Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) and active involvement in shaping the industry.
