WSP is seeking a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join our national team and play a key role in delivering Australia’s most impactful energy projects.
This is a technical role where your knowledge of power systems will drive complex grid connection studies, generator performance assessments, and power system modelling. You’ll work across all stages of project delivery—from feasibility and advisory through to execution and commissioning—while mentoring junior engineers and collaborating with industry leaders.

Our Power Systems Analysis & Grid Connections team partners with developers, utilities, and network service providers to deliver comprehensive grid connection services across all stages of a project, including:
- Feasibility and preliminary assessments
- Owner’s engineer and technical due diligence
- Power system modelling and simulation
- Generator performance standards (GPS) studies
- Connection application package development (R0 and R1)
- R2 model validation and GPS compliance assessment
- Ongoing technical advisory through commissioning
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking a technical engineer who thrives on problem-solving, collaboration, and delivering high-quality solutions.
Your Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Chartered status desirable)
- Solid experience in power system analysis for utility-scale networks, including:
- Steady-state, dynamic, and EMT studies
- Grid connection and GPS studies (R0, R1), R2 commissioning plans, and model validation for inverter-based resources; an advantage
- Familiarity with the generator connection process under the Australian National Electricity Rules (NER) or similar frameworks
- Proficiency in PSS/E and PSCAD; experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory is a plus
- Knowledge of synchronous and non-synchronous technologies, including storage and hybrids
- Strong communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to work with AEMO, DNSPs, and TNSPs on connection negotiations
- Experience with hybrid renewable energy projects, data centre connections, and automation/Python programming

- Leading or supporting a Project Leader with technical delivery from feasibility through to commissioning on transmission and distribution projects
- Mentoring graduate or junior engineers and sharing best practices
- Engaging with clients to provide technical advice and solutions
- Collaborating across WSP’s Power & Energy teams
- Supporting bids and proposals with strong technical input
