What you will do:

This role will see you become a leader, thereby enhancing your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s Mining Infrastructure & Project Delivery (MIPD) team. You will collaborate with talented and diverse professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities.

Our Mining team helps clients optimise performance, boost profitability, and operate responsibly. We have a comprehensive understanding of the mining industry and current issues including decarbonisation and understand future ready strategies are critical to countering these issues, capitalising on opportunities, and adding value to businesses.

We work for the world largest mining companies including BHP, Glencore, Rio Tinto, Hancock, not only in Australia, but across the globe. We develop relationships with our clients that go beyond a single project or geography and see ourselves as partners in their mining business, not just consultants. Our partnership with these clients stretches over decades, across many continents and projects.

You will do the following:

  • Design delivery of projects
  • Engage in study design, engineering, and project management across several different fields, notably coal processing and plant improvement studies and designs.
  • Leading scope and budget development in response to clients’ needs.
  • Develop designs from conception through to constructable detailed designs ready for immediate execution.
  • Working with the wider resources team and other teams within the company nationally and internationally to deliver clients’ outcomes.


About you:

  • A bachelor’s degree in chemical or mechanical engineering including Chartered status (CPEng, RPEQ) or ability to obtain.
  • Have proven local experience in process plant design, preferably in coal.
  • Demonstrated experience in the specification and technical design of process plant equipment, mineral slurry pumps, pipelines and piping systems.
  • Demonstrated ability leading the development of engineering documentation such as P&ID’s, duty specifications, scope of works, procurement packages, engineering lists, and design drawings.
  • Experience in process simulation software packages (Limn) is desirable but not essential.
  • Practical and/or site experience within process plants preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in managing design teams including oversight and mentoring of junior engineers.
  • Ability to manage process design requirements within large multi-discipline studies and detailed design projects, achieving scope, budget, schedule and quality outcomes.
  • Thorough knowledge of codes and standards and a good understanding interfacing discipline requirements within plant design.
