The WSP QLD Water Utilities team is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer with 2–5 years of experience to join us. We welcome both part-time and full-time applications from passionate professionals eager to make a meaningful impact.
What’s involved:
- Supporting design and documentation of LV and ELV electrical systems, PLC/telemetry, and Instrumentation and Control
- Assisting with motor lists, cable sizing, cable schedules & IO lists
- Preparing electrical schematics including single line diagrams, starter schematics, PLC drawings, loop diagrams, interconnecting diagrams, General Arrangement, terminal block diagrams
- Contributing to technical reports on small to medium projects (design reports, condition assessment reports)
- Supporting proposal development and technical input for pursuits
- Producing clear and accurate technical documentation for both technical and non-technical audiences
- Participating in field and desktop investigations of existing electrical infrastructure for capital upgrades
- Assisting in preparing specifications and documentation to support procurement and project delivery
What we will love about you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent tertiary qualifications
- 2–5 years of experience in an engineering consultancy, contractor, or asset owner environment
- Exposure to the Water / Wastewater industry preferred, ideally within Australia
- Working towards Registered Professional Engineer status
- Familiarity with standards, conceptual and detailed design, and design management of electrical infrastructure
- Awareness of electrical safety principles (e.g. protection, arc flash, earthing, hazardous areas, machine safety)
- Experience with modelling software such as PowerCAD or PTW is a plus
- Ability to interpret authority standards and electrical requirements for greenfield and brownfield projects
- Strong communication skills with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders
- Willingness to take on design coordination or project support roles across multiple projects
