About the role:
This is a leadership opportunity for a seasoned mechanical engineer to step into a pivotal role within WSP’s Sustaining Capital team in South Australia. You’ll be leading a team of 6–7 mechanical and process engineers, guiding them through the delivery of complex mining and infrastructure projects.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing hands-on engineering with strategic leadership, project management, and mentoring.
What you’ll do:
As an integral part of our team of engineers you will:
- Deliver a broad range of mining and infrastructure projects, including mineral processing, bulk materials handling, tailings systems, mine water, site services, and maintenance facilities
- Lead mechanical and multi-discipline design projects across mining and infrastructure
- Mentor and develop engineers through WSP’s Thrive program
- Prepare and manage project proposals, estimates, budgets, and schedules
- Develop and manage existing and new client relationships
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in engineering practices
- Collaborate with peers across civil, drafting, E&I, and structural disciplines
About You
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering
- At least 10 years’ experience as a mechanical engineer, ideally in consulting and mining
- A natural problem-solver who can lead from the front and support from behind
- Someone who’s technically strong, but also passionate about developing people
- Prior experience in a consulting environment will be well-regarded
- Comfortable navigating complex projects and coordinating across disciplines
- Experience in bulk materials handling, tailings systems, or wet processing
- A background in consulting and a knack for client engagement
