What you’ll do:
*We are happy for this position to be based in any of our major East Coast offices (Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, Brisbane).
Joining an established Mining team, you'll be supporting a diverse range of brownfield and sustaining capital projects across Australia. You’ll play a key role in delivering engineering solutions for our mining clients across multiple commodities, working within a collaborative multi-disciplinary team environment. This is an opportunity to contribute to projects that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and sustainability across mine sites; from early concept and design through to execution and commissioning.
- Prepares and supervises the preparation of mechanical engineering designs, drawings, specifications, schedules, quantity and cost estimates.
- Assess performance of mechanical assets against safety, cost, environmental impact and reliability in line with company standards.
- Provide engineering support across the full project lifecycle – from concept and feasibility studies to detailed design and implementation.
- Coordinate and interface with other disciplines (structural, electrical, process, piping, civil, etc.) to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and designers.
- Ensure all design deliverables meet WSP’s quality standards, client expectations, and relevant Australian standards and codes.
- Contribute to project planning, cost estimation, and scheduling for mechanical scopes of work.
About You
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (RPEQ or CPEng highly regarded).
- 6+ years of experience, ideally working within a similar consulting or project management environment, working on projects within the mining and resources sector.
- Demonstrated experience in sustaining capital, brownfield, or plant upgrade projects.
- Broad commodity exposure (iron ore, coal, base metals, lithium, gold, etc.) is advantageous.
- Proven ability to deliver practical and cost-effective engineering solutions in operational environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to build positive relationships with clients and multidisciplinary teams.
- Experience in monitoring and managing the scope of multiple projects of varying complexity and size.
