2026 marks a major growth phase for WSP’s Water Business Group as we deliver long‑term programs across Queensland and expand into Townsville and Cairns. With this growth comes an exciting opportunity for an Structural Engineer or Senior Structural Engineer specialising in water‑retaining structures to join our Water Utilities team.

About the Role

As a Structural Engineer at WSP, you will lead or support structural engineering delivery across multi‑disciplinary water infrastructure projects of varying scale and complexity. Your technical depth and design leadership will guide the planning, analysis and delivery of innovative, robust and compliant solutions.

You will:

  • Manage structural design for water infrastructure assets including pipelines, sewer networks, pump stations and water‑retaining structures.
  • Provide structural input for proposals and take part in business development and client engagement.
  • Drive innovation through Digital Engineering, BIM coordination and advanced design tools.
  • Conduct condition assessments, technical reviews and rigorous design verifications.
  • Apply Safety‑in‑Design principles to ensure compliance with OHS&E frameworks and quality systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and graduates to build capability and strengthen team excellence.

About You

You’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 4+ years’ experience in structural engineering, with proven experience in the water industry.
  • RPEQ registration (or eligibility); Chartered status expected at Associate level.
  • Strong technical capability in reinforced concrete, structural steel and water‑retaining structures compliant with Australian Standards.
  • Proven experience delivering projects from concept through detailed design and contributing to proposal development.
  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills with the ability to engage confidently with clients.
  • A strong commitment to safety, quality and environmental best practice.
