The Opportunity
Due to continued growth and recent project wins (NG4D), WSP’s Water business is seeking a Planning Engineer / Asset Management Engineer to join our Asset Management and Planning (AMP) team in Brisbane, Gold Coast or Sunshine Coast. This is your chance to work on high-impact projects that shape sustainable water management across Australia.
About the Team
Our nationally recognised AMP team specialises in strategic, master, and detailed planning for water and sewer networks, pumping stations, conveyance systems, and related infrastructure. With decades of local and global experience, we support utilities such as Urban Utilities, Sydney Water, and SA Water in understanding asset health and forecasting renewals with confidence.

What You’ll Do
- Deliver infrastructure planning and detailed planning for water, recycled water, and sewerage systems.
- Develop and execute strategic and tactical asset management plans.
- Analyse asset condition, performance, and operational data to inform decisions.
- Prepare long-term investment profiles and renewal strategies.
- Conduct risk assessments and establish risk management frameworks.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
- Provide expert advice on asset management systems and process improvements.
- Prepare clear and compelling reports, plans, and presentations.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline, with eligibility for professional membership (e.g., Engineers Australia).
- 4+ years’ experience in the water or infrastructure sector.
- Strong understanding of infrastructure planning, asset management principles and frameworks (e.g., ISO 55000).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Power BI, Excel) and ability to translate insights into action.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Proven project management and team collaboration capabilities.
- Experience in risk assessment, investment planning, and business case development is highly desirable.
