Due to continued growth, we are seeking an Associate to Senior Associate-level Environmental Consultant to join our Contaminated Land Management (CLM) team. This role will see you leading CLM projects, mentoring emerging talent, and strengthening client relationships across Australia.

Based in Melbourne, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering innovative solutions for contaminated land assessment and remediation, ensuring compliance with environmental standards and supporting sustainable outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and oversee complex contaminated land investigations, including soil and groundwater assessments.
  • Develop and implement advanced methodologies for environmental risk assessment and remediation strategies.
  • Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Prepare and review high-level technical reports, impact assessments, and proposals.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise.
  • Drive business development initiatives, including writing winning proposals and contributing to pursuits.
  • Mentor and coach junior and intermediate consultants, fostering technical excellence and knowledge transfer.
  • Ensure compliance with SHEQ obligations and promote best practices in safety and quality.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships, positioning WSP as a leader in contaminated land management.

About You

You will likely have a Bachelor’s degree in Earth Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline, with at least 7 years' experience in contaminated land management.

You will also bring:

  • Demonstrated Project Management experience across CLM projects of varying complexity.
  • Proven expertise in contaminated land investigations, risk assessment, and remediation.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing small teams and supervising contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage environmental risk on substantial projects.
  • Advanced report writing and technical review capabilities.
  • Experience applying relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines.
  • A track record of developing client relationships and securing repeat business.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A proactive, innovative mindset with a commitment to sustainability and technical excellence.
