We’re not just delivering water projects, we’re redefining how communities interact with water now and into the future. Our team partners with governments, utilities, developers, and investors to create sustainable, future‑ready solutions across the full water cycle.
If it moves, treats, stores, or transforms water — our team is on it.
With a growing national portfolio and strong momentum over the next four years, we’re expanding, starting with Senior or an Associate Mechanical Engineer.
What You’ll Do
As a Senior or Associate Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the continued growth and capability of our national Water Treatment team. We’re looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to take ownership of outcomes. You’ll be comfortable engaging with clients, leading packages of work, and guiding junior engineers — all while contributing to future‑ready treatment solutions across Australia.
In this role, you will:
- Work as part of our national, multi‑disciplinary water treatment team to deliver high‑quality project outcomes
- Assist and/or manage the scope, delivery, and day‑to‑day tasks across multiple projects of varying complexity
- Produce, review, and quality‑check clear, accurate technical documentation for both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Undertake technical reviews, risk management and project management responsibilities as required
- Apply relevant state and federal water legislation, industry standards, and treatment design guidelines
- Engage with key project stakeholders — including clients, vendors, and partners — to support smooth project delivery
- Provide technical input into proposals, tenders, and pursuits, supporting business development opportunities
- Stay across emerging water and wastewater technologies, contributing innovative ideas to design, procurement, and delivery
- Participate actively in internal initiatives such as mentoring, training, and capability‑building programs
- Represent WSP within the wider industry by contributing to committees, conferences, working groups, or technical papers
About You
You are a driven, solutions‑focused engineer with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines. You enjoy tackling complex water treatment challenges and bring a commitment to high technical standards.
You will likely have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (CPEng accreditation at an Associate level)
- Proven consulting experience within the Australian Water industry
- Technical competence across Water and/or Wastewater Treatment disciplines, including process, mechanical, and hydraulic interfaces
- Experience preparing technical reports and documentation for small to major projects
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex concepts to clients and stakeholders
- Proficiency in leading mechanical, hydraulic, and civil design elements for WTP/WWTP projects
- Ability to use modelling software, analytics tools, and undertake detailed design and equipment specification
- Experience with mass balance, design basis reports, equipment sizing, PFDs, P&IDs, and functional descriptions
- Familiarity with CHAIR, HAZOP, and Safety‑in‑Design approaches
- Strong capability in identifying project risks and implementing mitigation strategies across medium to large‑scale treatment projects
