We’re expanding our Water Utilities, Water Treatment, and Water Asset Management & Planning teams and are seeking a Senior Mechanical Technologist to join our national CAD and Digital Engineering team. This is your chance to work on iconic infrastructure projects that make a real difference—across sewer and watermains, pumping stations, treatment plants, recycled water, dams, and desalination facilities.

What You’ll Do

  • Create, edit, and manage 3D models, drawings, and schedules using Autodesk Plant 3D, AutoCAD, Inventor, and other tools.
  • Develop BIM-compliant models and detailed construction drawings aligned with client and WSP standards.
  • Prepare piping layouts, general arrangements, isometrics, and integrate vendor 2D/3D drawings.
  • Generate Bills of Materials, quantity take-offs, and equipment schedules.
  • Lead and mentor junior staff, promoting best practices and improving project delivery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless design coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, client drafting standards, and WSP’s quality assurance procedures.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement in client service and project outcomes.

About You

We’re looking for a Senior or Associate-level Mechanical Technologist with:

  • 8–12 years’ experience in piping/mechanical 3D drafting and modelling, ideally in water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Plant 3D; experience with Revit, Advance Steel, Civil 3D, and Autodesk Vault is highly regarded.
  • A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • A proactive, team-oriented mindset with the ability to lead and deliver in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in federated BIM model generation, clash detection, and database management is a plus.
  • Familiarity with point cloud surveys is advantageous.
