What you’ll do:

*We are happy for this position to be based in any of our major East Coast offices (Sydney, Newcastle, Adelaide, Brisbane).

We're looking for a Senior Process Engineer to join our Mining Sustaining Capital team, supporting the delivery of brownfield and sustaining capital projects across Australia. In this role, you’ll work closely with our clients and multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical and efficient process solutions across a broad range of mining commodities and processing facilities.

This position offers exposure to all project phases from concept and scoping studies through to detailed design, execution, and operational support.

  • Lead and deliver process engineering scopes for mining sustaining capital and brownfield projects.
  • Develop and review process design documentation, including mass and energy balances, PFDs, P&IDs, process descriptions, and design reports.
  • Support concept studies, feasibility assessments, and detailed design phases with process modelling and optimisation input.
  • Liaise with operations teams to understand plant performance issues and develop improvement strategies.
  • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior process engineers and designers.
  • Ensure all designs comply with WSP’s quality standards, client requirements, and relevant Australian and international codes and standards.
  • Contribute to project planning, cost estimation, and risk assessments for process-related scopes.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Process Engineering (Chartered status or RPEQ highly regarded).
  • 6+ years’ experience in process engineering within the mining and minerals processing industry.
  • Broad commodity experience (iron ore, coal, base metals, lithium, gold, etc.) across sustaining capital or brownfield environments.
  • Proven track record in developing practical process design solutions for operational plants.
  • Strong understanding of process safety principles, plant operations, and equipment design.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and build strong client relationships.
  • Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic consulting environment.
