The Opportunity
In this role, you will lead the preparation and coordination of engineering plans, specifications and cost estimates, ensuring high‑quality project documentation from concept through to delivery. You will also support the procurement process by managing advertising for bids, reviewing contractor and consultant submissions, and providing informed recommendations based on best value, technical competence and alignment with project objectives.
Main Activities and Responsibilities: (including but not limited to)
- Comply with all role specific SHEQ obligations.
- Represent WSP to a professional standard at all times.
- Develop, review, approve and manage complex investigations, and field studies.
- Manage field work involving coordination of teams and undertake field work without supervision.
- Develop, review and verify technically sound and robust methodologies in area of expertise.
- Monitor and manage the scope of multiple projects of varying complexity and size.
- Lead winning proposals and pursuits.
- Deliver best client outcomes/options which have save the client costs/time.
- Apply legislation, standards, guidelines and project specifications.
- Communicate complex technical issues to clients and guide the client through regulatory processes.
Qualifications (Minimum and Desirable):
- Bachelor’s Degree (Science, Environmental, Engineering) or Equivalent.
- Typically, a Senior Professional Associate (if not, would be expected to apply for it within 12 months).
- ANZ Project Manager Level 2 Certification (if required to PM on projects).
Experience, skills and organisational knowledge
- Typically, 11+ years’ experience.
- Demonstrated competence in providing key technical expertise across a broad range of high-profile projects.
- Proven ability to prepare technical reports and review large project reports. Planning, review and approval of major reports and assessments.
- Experienced in winning job from a job.
- Experienced in developing and maintaining client relationships.
- Experienced in applying and mentoring others in QA and OH&S systems. Regular auditing of other more junior staff.
- Proven ability in building the technical capability of others and transferring technical expertise within the organisation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of systems, procedures and practices.
- Demonstrated knowledge of organisational approach to risk management, ethics and safety.
- Regularly seeks business opportunities via effective Client centric practices.
- Balances innovation, quality and technical excellence with delivery to timelines and budget.
