This role will see you enhance your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s QLD Mining Engineering team. You will collaborate with talented professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities.

Mining
Our global team of over 5,200 dedicated mining professionals are supporting the industry to decarbonise mining operations in the accelerating green transition. Working collaboratively across borders and disciplines, you’ll join a leading team working on interesting and complex projects. We are experts in our field, and we are passionate about mining.
What you’ll do:
Joining a high performing, tight knit Engineering team, you'll be working across a range of mining sustaining capital projects out of our Brisbane office. Your day to day will look like;
- Leading the end-to-end development of control systems, from concept through commissioning, ensuring alignment with project goals and industry standards.
- Architect and program PLC and SCADA systems, with a strong focus on Rockwell and Schneider platforms.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical, mechanical, and process engineers to integrate control systems into broader project frameworks.
- Conduct detailed system testing, validation, and troubleshooting to ensure high reliability and performance.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including functional specifications, control philosophies, I/O lists, network architectures, and FAT/SAT procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership across multiple projects.
About You
We're looking for someone with excellent problem solving skills, communication and ability to work independently in a fast paced environment. Ideally your background would look like;
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 5–8 years of professional experience in control systems engineering, preferably in industrial automation or infrastructure projects.
- Advanced proficiency in Rockwell (RSLogix/Studio 5000) and Schneider (Unity Pro/EcoStruxure) PLC platforms.
- Strong experience with SCADA systems such as Citect, FactoryTalk View, or Wonderware, including architecture design and deployment.
- Demonstrated ability to produce clear, structured, and maintainable documentation for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Solid understanding of OT network design, industrial protocols (EtherNet/IP, Modbus, Profibus), and cybersecurity principles.
- Familiarity with IEC 61131-3 programming standards and structured programming practices.
