The Opportunity

WSP is seeking a passionate and technically skilled Lighting Design & Electrical Engineering Consultant to join our Specialist Lighting Team. In this role, you’ll deliver high-quality lighting design and electrical engineering consulting services across a diverse portfolio of transport infrastructure projects—from local roadways to complex, multi-disciplinary developments.

What you'll be doing

You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering strategic lighting solutions and technical expertise across a broad range of transport sector projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Applying Energy Queensland Public Lighting and Rate 2 Design principles to achieve outstanding design outcomes
  • Producing detailed lighting documentation and technical reports tailored to client needs
  • Interpreting client briefs and offering strategic direction and advice
  • Communicating complex technical concepts in clear, accessible language
  • Preparing design documentation with rigorous quality assurance
  • Coordinating with other engineering disciplines across multi-disciplinary projects
  • Representing WSP in industry forums and contributing to local business development
  • Ensuring compliance with internal policies and participating in strategic planning meetings

What we're looking for

We welcome lighting engineers at all levels, provided you bring a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Energex/Ergon Energy roadway lighting design in Queensland. You’ll also bring:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, Design, or equivalent, or be a qualified electrician
  • Proficiency in AGi or Perfectlite is preferred
  • Strong understanding of design models and interdisciplinary coordination
  • Expertise in safety-in-design practices and risk management
  • Proven ability to deliver cost-effective, high-quality client outcomes
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A collaborative mindset and openness to feedback
