What you’ll do:
As a Principal Water Resources Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in delivering strategic, large‑scale water management solutions for mining clients across Australia and internationally. You will lead multidisciplinary projects, guide and mentor emerging talent, and partner closely with clients to solve challenging water issues across the full mine lifecycle.
You will be part of WSP’s Mine Water group; a collaborative community of hydrologists, hydrogeologists, water engineers, geochemists, and environmental specialists - working on transformative and sustainability driven mining projects.
- Lead and oversee the planning, development, and management of water resources for various purposes, such as drinking water supply, irrigation, hydropower generation, flood control, and environmental preservation.
- Provide technical advice on flood risk, water balance, and environmental water management strategies.
- Oversee water-related risk assessments and ensure compliance with regulatory and international standards.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on mine water projects.
- Proactively maintain effective networks and relevant industry relationships to gain cooperation in meeting business and client outcomes.
About You:
You are a recognised water resources professional with a strong background in hydrology, hydraulics, and mine water management. You combine deep technical expertise with leadership skills and the ability to deliver tailored solutions in complex mining environments. Ideally you'll bring;
- Bachelors Degree (Engineering).
- Chartered status (CPEng, RPEQ, or equivalent).
- Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a consultancy environment.
- Demonstrated competence in providing key technical expertise across a broad range of high-profile projects.
- Demonstrated multiple instances of delivering best client outcomes/options which have saved the client costs/time.
- Established a recognised profile within industry associations e.g. Active involvement in shaping the industry.
- Competent in monitoring and managing the scope of multiple projects of varying complexity and size.
