The opportunity
Join our Hazardous Materials and Occupational Hygiene team as a Consultant or Licensed Asbestos Assessor and make a real impact on workers' health and safety. You will guide your clients in meeting health, safety, and legislative requirements regarding workplace and occupational exposure.
This role will be based in our Perth office. At WSP, we embrace hybrid working, allowing you to work from home 1-2 days per week when not on-site, ensuring a healthy work-life balance.
What you'll do:
- Develop asbestos monitoring and decontamination strategies, and issue clearances
- Undertake site surveys, including sampling of suspected hazardous building materials and pre-demolition surveys
- Provide technical guidance during asbestos removal projects
- Conduct sampling for airborne contaminants like respirable crystalline silica, dust, chemicals, and physical hazards such as noise and vibration, providing technical recommendations to protect worker health
- Conduct indoor air quality, mould, and moisture assessments, offering remediation recommendations
- Manage a diverse range of small to medium-scale projects
- Analyze data and prepare technical reports and proposals with support from senior staff
We've recently delivered asbestos, HAZMAT, and occupational hygiene consultancy services for clients such as Chevron, Rio Tinto, BHP, Department of Finance, Westfield Shopping Centres, Westpac Banking Corporation, AMPOL, SafeWork and CSIRO.
About you
You are enthusiastic, a team player, and eager to make a positive impact.
You will likely have a Hazardous Material consultancy background.
You ideally bring:
- Experience in measuring and assessing occupational exposure to hazards (e.g., environmental factors, chemical/physical/ergonomic/biological hazards)
- A willingness to understand consulting and project life cycles, taking the initiative to develop client relationships while maintaining high service standards
- A desire to enhance your skills in report writing, relationship building, and project management
- An Australian Driver's License to effectively fulfill the position's requirements
- An Asbestos Assessors License, which is highly regarded and demonstrates your specialised expertise and commitment to high industry standards
