This role will see you enhance your capabilities and the reputation of WSP’s Property & Buildings BIM team. You will collaborate with talented professionals working on iconic projects to drive future ready outcomes that will benefit clients and communities.

The Senior Structural Design Drafter supports the development and documentation of design solutions by transforming conceptual ideas and technical inputs into clear, coordinated design outputs. Working closely with designers and engineers, they contribute to the creative and technical evolution of projects from early design through to delivery.

Property & Buildings

Through powerful partnerships and multidisciplinary collaboration, we design places to deliver social, environmental and financial value for clients around our changing world.

What you’ll do:

  • Coordinate design and documentation with other engineering and drafting disciplines and with other team members
  • Working within a multi-disciplined engineering team to deliver a range of civil and structural engineering design projects
  • Support other sectors of the business on project activities ranging from feasibility to detailed CAD design
  • Provide ongoing continuous improvement and development inputs to create more efficient workflows within the team
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of CAD technical standards and workflows
  • Be prepared to take a lead CAD role on select projects within a structural or multi-discipline environment

 

About You

  • Diploma or Certificate IV in Design Drafting, Building Design, or equivalent field related to the discipline. 
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a design documentation or design support role. 
  • Experience working in design-led environments or with multi-disciplinary design teams. 
  • Strong spatial awareness and an understanding of design principles relevant to the discipline. 
  • Proficiency in digital design tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil3D, 12D, Revit, or discipline-specific software). 
  • Ability to interpret and evolve conceptual design into detailed, buildable documentation. 
  • Visual communication skills including layout, composition, and clarity in both 2D and 3D formats. 
  • Knowledge of relevant design standards, codes, and best practices. 
  • Enthusiasm for design thinking, innovation, and cross-disciplinary collaboration. 
  • Organised and methodical in managing design files, model coordination, and design outputs
