Technical Executive, Water Treatment
Big things are happening in water — and we want you to be part of it.
With major treatment projects underway and new opportunities emerging across Australia, we’re looking for a Principal Process Engineer or a Technical Executive ready to make an impact and help write the next chapter of our water story.
You’ll join a high‑performing national team and lead process engineering across Water Treatment Plants (WTPs) and Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTPs) on some of Australia’s most meaningful and complex infrastructure programs.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver water and wastewater treatment projects as part of a national multidisciplinary team across QLD, NSW, VIC, TAS, WA and SA.
- Lead process engineering design for WTPs and WWTPs, including mass balance, design basis, equipment sizing, PFDs, P&IDs and functional descriptions.
- Provide technical leadership in treatment process engineering, odour treatment, ventilation design, modelling and optimisation.
- Drive high‑quality design, technical review, sign‑off, and risk management across projects of varying scale.
- Apply treatment process modelling (e.g., BioWin) and analytical methods to inform design decisions.
- Collaborate with clients, operators and vendors to develop innovative, future‑ready solutions.
- Prepare and review detailed technical reports, proposals and bid inputs.
- Mentor graduate and developing engineers; contribute to capability uplift across the Water team.
- Support commissioning activities and troubleshoot process performance.
- Stay current with emerging water and wastewater technologies and drive innovation in design.
- Represent WSP through industry bodies, committees, technical papers and events.
- Ensure compliance with relevant state and federal legislation, regulatory requirements and industry standards.

- Experience with odour treatment systems, ventilation design, or desalination (desirable).
- Ability to break down complex technical problems and articulate clear strategic pathways forward.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and challenge the status quo.
- Strong understanding of environmental, sustainability and social considerations in treatment design.
- Experience in CHAIR, HAZOP, Safety‑in‑Design.
