Our tailings engineers work on large-scale, world-class projects both in Australia and internationally. We are the tailings consultant of choice for several global mining companies, and our team works across the entire full lifecycle of tailings projects, from feasibility and site investigation through to design, construction, commissioning, operations, maintenance, and closure. We are now looking for talented engineers to help support the ongoing growth and success of our business. As a WSP professional, you will have access to our world-class geotechnical laboratory facilities and global network of technical expertise. What you’ll do:
As a Tailings Engineer, you will join a collaborative and supportive multidisciplinary team of highly skilled professionals who are working on a diverse range of projects across various commodities and clients. Whether you are stepping into a Senior role or are ready to lead as a Principal Engineer, the balanced portfolio of work will allow you to build and sharpen your technical skills, keep work interesting, and continue your professional growth as you deliver best practice consulting services to clients in Australia and overseas. The locations for these roles are flexible and can be based in any of our offices located in Australia.
- Provide technical direction or input to tailings design studies and related analyses.
- Develop and review complex analyses to support design and operational reviews.
- Provide senior technical input to project teams and ensure that appropriate technical standards are developed and maintained.
- Assess and understand credible failure modes and how they apply to specific tailings storage facilities.
- Take Leadership of multi-disciplinary project teams on local, regional and international consulting assignments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring for staff in the regional team and reviewing their project work.
- Provide recommendations to clients and maintain effective client relationships.
About You
- Bachelor of Engineering Qualifications in Civil or Mining Engineering.
- Proven working experience on tailings/mine waste related projects locally or internationally, ideally in a consulting environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently autonomously and in a team environment, including on multi-disciplinary projects.
- Excellent attention to detail and time management ability.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions.
- Drive to balance innovation, quality, and technical excellence with delivery to timelines and cost.
- Understanding of local and international guidelines, best practice protocols, and client-based standards.
