What if you could do the kind of work the world needs?

At WSP, you can access our global scale, contribute to landmark projects and connect with the brightest minds in your field to do the best work of your life. You can embrace your curiosity in a culture that celebrates new ideas and diverse perspectives. You can experience a world of opportunity and the chance to shape a career as unique as you.

The Opportunity

Help shape the future of cities, places and communities.

We’re growing—and we’re looking for a talented Senior Consultant to join our Development, Planning & Economics (DPE) team in Queensland. If you’re passionate about economics, land‑use planning, development feasibility and strategic advisory work, this is your opportunity to step into a role with impact, influence and real career progression.

Why this role matters

Our team is delivering a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects, and demand for our expertise continues to rise, particularly in areas such as:

  • Complex economic and feasibility assessments
  • Integrated land use, infrastructure and planning advice
  • Fast‑turnaround, high‑quality strategic advisory

To keep pace, we’re strengthening the mid‑to‑senior tier of our team. This role fills a crucial gap between Consultant and Associate, helping us scale effectively and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Consultant, you will play a key role in technical delivery, client engagement, and team capability building. You will:

  • Lead and deliver medium-to-large work packages across economics, planning and development advisory projects
  • Manage project scope, budgets, timelines, and ensure all outputs meet our quality standards
  • Mentor and guide junior team members, supporting consistency and excellence in delivery
  • Contribute to proposals, fee estimates and client meetings, strengthening our market presence
  • Support business development initiatives and nurture ongoing client relationships
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across our Advisory and Technical Advisory Services teams

This is not a people‑manager role, but you will play an important part in developing the skills and confidence of less experienced team members.

What success looks like

You’ll help us grow our DPE offering across Queensland while strengthening project resilience and reducing key‑person dependency. Your work will directly support:

  • Stronger succession planning
  • Enhanced client experience
  • More efficient and consistent project delivery
  • Continued expansion of our national DPE capability

About you

You’re likely to be someone who thrives in a fast-paced, intellectually stimulating environment and who enjoys taking ownership of complex advisory tasks. You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience in economics, land-use planning, development feasibility, or related advisory work
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to synthesise complex information
  • Confidence in managing project components and engaging with clients
  • A collaborative mindset and willingness to mentor others
  • A desire to grow into a future Associate / Principal pathway

Why join us

You’ll be part of a dynamic, supportive team that values technical excellence, innovation and real-world impact. We offer:

  • Opportunities to lead meaningful urban, regional and economic projects
  • A clear growth pathway with senior leaders invested in your development
  • A collaborative culture that recognises and rewards high performers
