Role Overview: As a Technical Director at WSP, you will hold a strategic leadership position, playing a pivotal role in enhancing the capabilities and reputation of our Geo-environmental engineering team. Lead and influence major projects in civil, infrastructure, and mining sectors, focusing on subsurface environmental risks, geosynthetics, embankments, earthworks, and surface water management.

Responsibilities:

  • Spearhead the development of innovative and sustainable engineering solutions, driving excellence within the team.
  • Lead the successful delivery of complex projects in geo-environmental engineering, urban infrastructure, waste management, mining, and hazardous dams.
  • Take a central role in developing high-level technical documents for clients throughout all project phases.
  • Cultivate and strengthen client relationships, driving project delivery and business development strategies.
  • Oversee technical project delivery, ensuring the effective management of risks and maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Assume a leadership role in project management, with a focus on securing repeat business and achieving desired outcomes for key clients.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to a team of engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and shared project responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate leadership, decision-making, and mentoring skills to support the development of junior, intermediate, and senior engineers.
  • Establish and maintain a track record and reputation of achievement, with a particular focus on delivering engineering design packages through the design and execution phases of projects.
  • Exhibit a highly motivated, innovative, and committed approach to technical excellence throughout project execution.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Possess a master's or equivalent advanced degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering, demonstrating a strong academic foundation and specialization in the field.
  • Hold relevant professional accreditation and be a registered Professional Engineer, ensuring compliance with industry standards and ethical practices.
  • Bring a wealth of experience in the field of progressive experience in Civil engineering, including a proven track record in leadership roles.
  • Showcase comprehensive design expertise related to subsurface environmental risks, geosynthetics, embankments, earthworks, and surface water management. Demonstrate proficiency in delivering engineering design packages through all project phases, from conception to execution.
  • Exhibit a strong project management background with a history of successfully leading multidisciplinary teams. Display an ability to oversee complex projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery while effectively managing risks.
  • Demonstrate exceptional leadership skills, decision-making acumen, and a proven ability to mentor and develop engineers at all levels, including junior, intermediate, and senior team members.
  • Showcase a highly motivated and innovative approach, maintaining a commitment to technical excellence throughout the execution of projects. Prove an ability to stay at the forefront of industry advancements and integrate cutting-edge solutions into project development.
  • Possess strong client relationship skills, showcasing experience in client engagement, business development, and a commitment to delivering exceptional service to key clients.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical information clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Establish a track record and reputation of achievement within the industry, particularly with a focus on delivering successful engineering projects.
