The opportunity

Due to anticipated growth resulting from a strong pipeline of work being secured, we are currently looking to engage a Senior or Associate Infrastructure Sustainability Consultant to join our Queensland team. You can be based in our Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns or Townsville offices.

We are looking for someone that is a natural leader, and it interested to be involved across all aspects of sustainability consultancy from supporting and integrating into a high performance local and national team, leading strategic bids and business development activities, as well as high level conceptual project strategies to delivering against defined requirement to verifying performance outcomes in operation. This candidate would also have demonstrated experience in project leadership, project management, financial management and people management skills in a sustainability or other consulting field.

A typical day for you

  • Providing leadership and management of deliverables for medium and large scale projects;
  • Contribute to the development and expertise of our QLD Team to achieve high performance outcomes for our people, projects and clients
  • Contributing to and guiding project planning, project management, budgeting and controls;
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with clients
  • Establishing and maintaining WSP’s leadership position in the QLD Sustainability Sector;
  • Applying a deep understanding of sustainability/ESD principles to solve complex problems, particularly on decarbonisation of infrastructure assets;
  • Producing, reviewing and QA’ing designs and reports to meet client requirements for projects, and;
  • Leading and delivering client meetings and workshops.

What we'll love about you

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent sustainability related discipline;
  • 6+ years’ industry experience as a Sustainability Consultant or similar role, preferably in the infrastructure sector;
  • Experience with best practice certification schemes, such as ISC IS ratings, with Green Star preferred.
  • Experienced with guiding, reviewing and undertaking technical analysis covering various aspects of sustainability, such as, energy, water and waste modelling; climate resilience and life-cycle analysis.
  • Ability to use complex theoretical knowledge and experience of engineering/scientific principles to analyse, interpret and conclude project requirements and challenges;
  • Passionate about developing solutions for a low carbon, sustainable built environment, and;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
