The Darwin Building Services team is currently engaged in a broad portfolio of projects, with a strong emphasis on key initiatives in defence, civic infrastructure, and commercial sectors. The team is friendly and supportive and the projects you’ll contribute to will have a meaningful impact across the NT. The team is committed to sustainability and embraces creative design alongside practical, functional solutions tailored to client needs.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will be part of a wider network of professional engineers working on both local and national projects. Specific activities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Provide mechanical design expertise on single and multi-disciplinary projects 
  • Deliver best practice and outcomes for clients, saving on costs and time 
  • Take lead on small to medium size engineering design projects and support larger projects 
  • Communicate effectively with all external and internal stakeholders and project teams
  • Be a supporting figure and mentor for lesser experienced engineers 
  • Build solid client relationships and recognize business development opportunities (desirable) 

About you

  • Hold a recognized Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing mechanical services systems (air conditioning, heating, and ventilation systems).
  • Have the ability to coordinate and understand relevant building services disciplines, including Electrical, Hydraulic, Fire Protection, and Environmentally Sustainable Design.
  • Proven project experience in the building services sector across a range of projects
  • Possess a working knowledge of Australian building codes and standards
  • Ensure registration (or eligibility for registration) in the professional engineer register of the relevant state for the building/construction industry.
  • Demonstrate a history of effectively managing competing priorities, prioritizing work, and meeting tight deadlines.
