The Opportunity:

The Study Manager’s role is to plan and control the execution of large (1 MUSD+) multidisciplinary Projects in fulfilment of stage gate requirements for capital expenditure (from PFS, FS through Detailed Design stages). The Study Manager is expected to lead the work in accordance with the Project requirements in a cost effective and safe manner ensuring compliance with the Contract technical and schedule requirements. The Study Manager is also responsible for ensuring that only suitably qualified, trained, and skilled personnel are allocated tasks, and that design and engineering personnel have access to necessary tools, equipment, facilities and training.

The role requires you to:

  • Support the identification, positioning, and planning for future study opportunities.
  • Lead the preparation of high-quality, multidisciplinary proposals and coordinate the preparation and submission of tender documents.
  • Lead negotiations, with support of legal counsel, to finalise and execute contracts.
  • Coordinate the setup of work packages, systems, routines, and controls to facilitate execution of studies, including the preparation of relevant study management documentation.
  • Ensure the allocation and availability of appropriate technical personnel to complete required tasks for each study and manage the interfaces across technical disciplines and business units.
  • Lead the tracking and reporting of study progress against schedule and budget using earned value as per client requirements.
  • Manage Project trends and lead change management processes.
  • Coordinate and track the preparation, review and issue of study deliverables.
  • Act as the company representative and liaise with the client representative with respect to study progress and deliverables.
  • Ensure the timely issue of invoices
  • Mentor junior study managers and project engineers to develop future study management capacity.
  • Demonstrate leadership in safety and sustainability management across study activities.

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant tertiary education (Geoscience, Engineering, Mining, Environment, Chemistry, Business or related)
  • Certificate or similar accreditation in project management and delivery (e.g. Australian Institute of Project Managers)
  • Proven industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in study management, preferably with experience in delivery of mine closure studies
  • Independent thinker able to challenge norms, develop new ideas and keen to progress environmentally sustainable engineering solutions.
  • Established profile within industry associations e.g., active involvement in shaping the industry through committees, industry bodies, delivering papers etc.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work virtually and face-to-face within a team environment, including the motivation and development of others within your team.
