Our Water team promotes holistic, sustainable water resource management for governments, investors, developers, manufacturers, utilities, and corporations, helping with network maintenance and development, risk mitigation, regulatory compliance, cost reduction, and future-ready strategies.

What you’ll do

Due to the continued success of our Australian operations, our Water business is seeking experienced Planning Engineers to have a senior role in our national sewer network model calibration program. 

Your key responsibility will be to take a senior role in implementing WSP’s national sewer network calibration program and guiding an experienced modelling team. You will also be responsible for technical assessment of sewerage networks to address drivers such as network performance improvement, growth, compliance, and renewals by, undertaking strategic and master planning, options assessments, feasibility investigations and detailed planning projects as well as the preparation of business cases. You will also have exposure to and support our asset management and strategy development functions and will be working with key clients across Australia.

About you

Joining our team at the Senior to Principal level, depending on experience, you will have experience leading the delivery of efficient and effective engineering consultancy services to our public and private sector clients including the preparation of client-focussed proposals. You will be proficient in:

  • Planning of sewerage networks and an in-depth understanding of their operation
  • Understanding and implementation of hydraulic principles including experience in hydraulic modelling and particularly sewer network model calibration
  • Analytics techniques for processing of large data sets, including meteorological and SCADA data
  • The use of GIS and excel and other analytics tools to interrogate and assess data
  •  The use of decision support methodologies such as MCA, risk assessments, opportunities and constraints, costs and benefits etc
  • Leading project scoping or proposal development
  • Developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Developing skills to identify risk in sewer network projects
  • Preparation of technical reports and relevant supporting information
  • Proven local experience in water engineering, and previous experience in a consultancy environment highly desirable
  • Proven experience in the capacity to deliver the best client outcomes/options which have saved the client cost/time
  • Experience in managing risk on large projects
  • Knowledge of project management including managing the scope of multiple projects and leading resources
  • Recognised Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering) or Equivalent.
  • Chartered status CPENG an advantage
