The opportunity
Join WSP’s Geotechnical & Tunnels division, Australia’s largest team of geotechnical, geological, and tunnelling specialists. With over 400 experts nationwide, we’re known for technical excellence, collaboration, and delivering best-practice solutions.
As a Junior Geotechnical Engineer, you’ll work alongside senior engineers to support investigations, analysis, and reporting for civil, mining, and infrastructure projects. This role offers a balance of fieldwork (including regional sites) and office-based studies, giving you hands-on experience across the full project lifecycle.
At WSP, you’ll enjoy the scale and resources of WA’s leading geotechnical consultancy while tackling diverse technical challenges, from local site investigations to landmark mega-projects in infrastructure, mining, property, and building sectors. You’ll collaborate with nationally recognised experts in geotechnical assessments, engineering geology, numerical analysis, and more.
In this role you will:
- Assist in planning and conducting geotechnical site investigations
- Collect and analyse soil, rock, and groundwater samples
- Prepare field logs and laboratory testing schedules
- Contribute to geotechnical factual and interpretive reports
- Support senior engineers with data analysis, geotechnical design and modelling
- Ensure all work complies with health, safety, and environmental regulations
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience in geotechnical or civil engineering (recent graduates encouraged to apply!)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel to site locations as required
- Valid Australian driver’s licence
