We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our renowned Geotechnical team, based in our Melbourne office!

As our Senior Structural Engineer, you will be an integral part of our accomplished Geotechnical and Tunnels team that will see you truly put your flair and footprint on innovative and future ready projects that will continue to benefit communities nationwide for generations to come!

Delivering forward thinking and effective technical solutions to both internal and external clients, you will be instrumental in the further development and innovation of construction methodologies and temporary works design initiatives.

Your technical expertise will be deployed across projects throughout our cast portfolio of clients including award winning teams in Transport, Water, Wastewater and Mining, thus continuing to help further grow an already successful and reputable capability.

Working alongside some of the best Structural, Geotechnical and Tunneling technical experts in the industry, you will be assisting in bidding and delivering successful projects, whilst being well supported across all facets of our national business - With skilled resources across our business to help every step of the way!

  • North East Link Early Works 
  • The Gold Coast Seaway Project 
  • Melbourne Metro 
  • Sunbury Level Crossing Removals

What you’ll do:

  • Plan, manage and successfully deliver complex structural engineering projects in Melbourne and across Australia. 
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and exceed client’s expectations on a consistent basis. 
  • Keep abreast of advancing technologies, methods and research & development. 
  • Assume responsibility for planning and managing small projects or parts of larger projects. 
  • Assist with the design of temporary/permanent structural systems. You will also be involved with internal peer review of technical deliverables on a consistent basis. 
  • Provide safety leadership in identifying and alleviating/eliminating high priority safety hazards. This will be predominantly while carrying out reviews of Safety in Design or during the peer review process while considering construction activities. 
  • Participate in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to other engineers and team members. It will be expected of you to train less experienced engineers and to drive technical excellence. 
  • Plan, develop schedule, coordinate and direct workforce on important engineering projects to meet completion deadlines. 
  • Undertake QA and preparation of all project documentation 
  • Prepare proposals, reports and high-quality deliverables for clients

About you:

  • Typically 3 to 10 years' experience industry experience 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Structural engineering 
  • Professional Chartered Engineer (CPEng) (or working towards it) 
  • Experience in the design of temporary and permanent structural systems 
  • Previous experience with trenchless construction or tunneling (preferred) 
  • Experience with “First Principle” design of complex structures 
  • Experience in delivering tasks within allowed timeframe 
  • Delivering work with high quality 
  • Experience in using structural FE design software
