In this role, you’ll work within our National Materials Testing division as a Warehouse and equipment coordinator – Labs.

Based in our Brisbane Lab/Warehouse and reporting to our National Lead in Victoria, you will be an integral part of ensuring our Queensland best practice capabilities are continued to be met. .

You will have the opportunity to also develop your future ready skills as a key support to our renowned Geotechnical and Tunnels team, in our Earth and Environment business group.

What you’ll do:

As one of our Warehouse and Equipment Coordinator’s, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate coordination of sample storage, distribution, disposal and tracking from field to laboratory.

You will also be exposed to both our external clients and partners, whilst managing incoming/outgoing field equipment, maintenance and calibrations. 

This role requires someone with excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, and a great team player with a customer service attitude.

Your typical day would look include, but not be limited to:

  • Checking incoming samples and equipment against consignment details for damage;
  • Ensuring and conducting all work in a safe manner - Complying with all role specific HSE obligations, and embracing WSP’s strong HSE culture.
  • Maintaining an electronic sample register and chain-of-custody records for samples of soil, rock and water
  • Undertaking sample photography
  • Update equipment registers for items being stored or shipped from the warehouse, and organising/performing maintenance checks and calibration of field equipment
  • Updating internal billing schedule to internal clients for: equipment rental, sample storage and disposal etc.
  • Arranging periodic disposal of samples from the warehouse (including any special instructions/handling requirements)
  • Operate a 4WD utility for sample pickup/delivery, sample transfer from site to warehouse/lab, equipment and sample drop off and restocking consumables
  • Lift, place and transfer items from the floor to shelves or racks as well as occasional unloading of delivery trucks of samples and equipment using standard warehousing equipment (e.g. manual handling, pallet jack, scissor lift trolley, forklift and hand stacker)

About You

You’re likely to have both excellent organisational and communication skills, and be able to maintain clean and tidy work areas.

You will also possess:

  • Previous training in warehousing AND geotechnical laboratory testing
  • Relevant internal and external HSE training
  • Previous experience as a field technician or in sample management roles would be considered an advantage.
  • Hold a current unrestricted driver’s licence that is valid for use in Australia, and have a current forklift licence (or willing to obtain licence).
  • Be a team player, problem solver and customer service attitude
  • Have excellent attention to detail.
  • Have a solid understanding of sample management/tracking software/systems.
