The opportunity
Due to anticipated growth resulting from a strong pipeline of work being secured, we are currently looking to engage a Tunnel Ventilation Engineer to join our Melbourne office.
Our large, national Tunnel Systems team delivers various projects from road, rail, to maritime and various other challenging transport infrastructure projects. From tunnel ventilation, mechanical engineering, fire protection and fire safety engineering, the team are thought leaders and technical experts in their respective disciplines. In collaboration, they achieve great scale and synergy in delivering major projects, shaping up as the leader in the Transport sector, across both Australia and New Zealand, as a highly effective, cohesive unit.
Further to ongoing success in the sector, we are growing our existing Tunnel Ventilation Engineering discipline to continue delivering for portfolio of clients, ranging from government, owner/operators, top-tier contractors and all the way through to safety regulators
You will:
- Support timely and quality of delivery for project, design, analysis and tunnel ventilation engineering work in support of relevant technical and regulatory standards;
- Establish effective stakeholder relationships, both internally, and externally including clients, involving providing high-level expertise and tailored, economical solutions.
- Run low-to-medium scale projects and overseeing scope management, all the whilst contributing to major scale projects;
- Support and guiding junior engineers with technical matters, and;
- Embody enthusiasm to work as part of a collaborative, national and global team within a multidisciplinary design setting.
About You
- Chartered engineering status (desirable);
- Bachelor to Master level degree in Mechanical Engineering;
- Circa 3 to 5+ years’ experience on tunnel ventilation engineering projects within the transport sector;
- Well versed with concept design, analysis and engineering for road/rail tunnels, rail systems and stations;
- Understanding and knowledge of fire safety engineering requirements;
- Proven computational fluid dynamics (CFD) expertise and modelling skills;
- Strong proficiency with modelling with relevant packages, i.e. IDA, SES / SVS.
- Capacity to deliver medium/large-scale projects as part of a team and manage small-scale projects autonomously;
- Track record of collaborating effectively with other engineering disciplines on projects;
- Well versed in liaising effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, and;
- Strong communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
