About the Role

Use your creative edge and technical precision to help deliver performance apparel for Australia's Defence Force. We are looking for a talented and driven Designer to lead the development of innovative and functional uniform solutions, balancing customer needs, compliance, and commercial targets.

What you’ll be doing

  • Responsible for the design and development of commercially viable, fit-for-purpose ADF products aligned with briefs, sourcing requirements, and performance expectations.
  • Deliver innovative design solutions and contribute to product re-engineering, ensuring compliance with standards such as EIA:632 and ISO 9001.
  • Lead product design from trend research and concept development through to tech pack creation, fitting, and presentation.
  • Ensure all design work meets cost, critical path, and quality expectations, and supports timely product delivery.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, sourcing teams, and customers to deliver on design briefs and support tender submissions.
  • Maintain clear communication and strong relationships with offshore suppliers and internal technical teams.

What we’re looking for

  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel and/or Textile Design (Tertiary education in Patternmaking and Textiles desirable)
  • 3+ years' experience in a Designer role within apparel, preferably in corporate, uniform, or performance sectors
  • Highly proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and CAD; capable of producing precise technical specs and storyboards
  • Strong knowledge of textiles, garment construction, fabric technologies, and industrial apparel standards
  • Experience working with PLM systems and understanding of EIA:632 or ISO 9001 is desirable
  • Excellent time management, collaboration, and stakeholder communication skills
