About the Role
As a Configuration Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining the accuracy, consistency, and control of technical data and specifications for ADF uniform products.
You will own the systems and processes that govern Technical Data Management (TDM), ensuring all engineering changes are tracked, verified, and compliant with Defence requirements. This includes managing change control, product integrity, data accuracy, and accessibility throughout the product lifecycle.
What you’ll be doing
- Own and manage all Technical Data Management (TDM) processes and systems.
 - Maintain and update the CSAR (Configuration Status Accounting Report) to ensure traceability of approved changes.
 - Register and maintain accurate, detailed technical data including tech packs, version control, and audit trails.
 - Oversee access control, data storage, back-up and archiving protocols for all technical information.
 - Ensure correct size charts and grading templates are followed across products.
 - Coordinate change control processes for technical data, including internal audits and manufacturing spec updates.
 - Conduct regular audits of technical documentation to ensure compliance with contractual and regulatory standards.
 - Liaise with the ADF Senior Engineer on configuration anomalies and apply appropriate risk management actions.
 - Contribute to product and trim compliance documentation and testing records.
 - Support risk assessments and configuration-related investigations as required.
 
What we’re looking for
You are an organised, detail-focused professional with a strong understanding of technical data systems and change management processes. You take ownership of documentation quality and thrive in structured, compliance-driven environments.
You will ideally have:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a technical, engineering, or product documentation role.
 - Bachelor’s degree or certification in Product Design, Engineering, Textiles, or related discipline – or equivalent industry experience/apprenticeship (preferred).
 - Understanding of the EIA:632 process and/or ISO 9001 accreditation (desirable).
 - Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems (desirable).
 - Familiarity with garment specifications, grading, and technical compliance.
 - Connection with key industry bodies e.g. Chartered Engineering or Textile Institutions, Testing Facilities, Standards Australia and Australian Fashion Council (preferred).
