About the Role

This position is to support the growth of our product ranges by working with the Merchandise, Planning and Sales teams, to create commercially viable product for our customers in accordance with their requirements.

This role will also project manage and support the product and sourcing development process from initial brief, creation, sampling, trial process, feedback, amendments, final gold seal approvals, quality checking to handover.

This is a fixed 12 month opportunity.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support and review of the design to ensure fit for purpose and is in alignment with WWG quality standards and brand architecture
  • Adhere to the risk assessment process closing out all identified risks prior to pre-production sample sign off
  • Working with the product developer and sourcing specialist on new product developments to recommend production methods for easier manufacturing & cost saving options
  • Using our templates to create detailed specifications for new garments to enable suppliers to make accurate samples and bulk production
  • Support the creation of specifications suitable for production and maintain all garment specs/updates, pattern files, sample list of active and discontinued styles and relating documents for easy access and adhere to Document Management System (DMS)
  • Sample checking against specs and writing sample inspection reports (SIRs) 
  • Conduct fabric approvals and request/set up of new raw materials with Planning
  • Support to check and request all relevant test reports for fabric & trims
  • Quality checking & creating inspection reports from development sample to top of production sample
  • Building up solid relationships with the key internal & external stakeholders and suppliers
  • Communicating with onshore and/or offshore suppliers for any quality & technical issues and bring solutions for any queries
  • Manage sourcing enquiries, to ensure Social and Ethical policy is met and commercial best practise
  • Support the sourcing of products/costings for customer requirements for new business (tenders) and reviewing innovations for current products supplied
  • Support in the sample management within new business tenders – collating, preparing for assessment and the return of samples to suppliers
  • Sourcing and ordering trims where needed and corresponding with suppliers for all sample/requirements

What we’re looking for

  • 2-5 years relevant industry experience in the specifications, garment construction and manufacturing
  • Working knowledge of garment specifications, construction, grading rules, development of garment size charts and fabric knowledge
  • Experienced in working with suppliers
  • Knowledge in textiles/trims
  • Computer literacy; MS: Word, Excel, Outlook & Adobe Illustrator
  • Familiar with Workwear and ISO & AS/NZ safety standards
  • Proven ability to overcome difficulties to keep tasks and projects on time, within budget and to quality standards
