About the Role

We are looking for a talented and eager designer with a background in clothing and apparel to join our team. You will have the opportunity to research, design, and develop innovative and commercially viable products for our Industrial Direct client ranges.

You will work closely with our clients to understand their design briefs and brand positioning, while also taking into account sourcing and financial requirements.

This is a 12-month fixed term contract position

What you’ll be doing

  • Research new trends in fabrications, construction, technology, trims, and accessories.
  • Design product lines that are commercially viable and meet the requirements of WWG and customers.
  • Review existing products and client ranges to ensure they meet market requirements.
  • Create Technical Garment Specifications for costing and garment development.
  • Ensure adherence to critical path timelines and strive for improved timelines.
  • Communicate design and development progress with key stakeholders.
  • Conduct garment wearer trials during the development phase.
  • Ensure all garments are tested to the required standards during development.
  • Generate creative client storyboards to showcase product designs, trend direction, colour palettes, branding, and fabric swatches.
  • Meet with clients when required to provide technical expertise and advice.

What we’re looking for

  • Worked experience with Illustrator is essential for this role
  • Experience with Photoshop is advantageous
  • Proven design experience, experience with B2B clients desirable
  • Knowledge of textiles, fibres, yarns, knitting, dyeing, print techniques, fabric properties and garment finishing techniques
  • Knowledge of garment construction
  • Comprehensive knowledge of clothing manufacture desirable
  • Experience communicating with offshore suppliers desirable
  • Work wear or performance apparel experience desirable
  • Experience with Industrial work wear standards desirable
