Workforce Australia – First Nations Mentor
Locations – Gippsland Region, Victoria
Contract Type: Permanent Full Time
We have an exciting opportunity for a First Nations Mentor to join our team in the Gippsland region, providing a high level of support and mentoring to both participants and Workways Employees to support First Nations participants into employment and throughout their employment journey.
This role operates across a fast-paced, high-performance environment and will engage with local Indigenous communities.
About the opportunity:
The mentor will provide intensive mentoring to both Workways Employees and First Nations participants across the region, with the aim of ensuring their transition into employment is successful and sustained. Mentors achieve outcomes by motivating, coaching, and identifying transferable skills required for successful employment. Mentors tailor their services for individual needs so that jobseekers are supported and able to progress towards the labour market to gain and keep meaningful employment.
Being a Mentor involves:
- An understanding of the issues affecting Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with people/Participants from a range of backgrounds including Indigenous, youth, mature aged, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively facilitate small groups.
- A proven track record of achieving performance targets and time management skills to meet deadlines.
- Sound Information Technology and administration skills.

- You understand and have the ability to work within a contractual compliant environment.
- You hold a current driver's licence and are willing to undertake a satisfactory Police Check and Working with Children Card as a pre-condition of employment.
