🌱 About the Role
As a Community Development Trainee, you’ll support our Community Services team to deliver projects, events, engagement activities, and customer support that help our community thrive. You'll learn from experienced coordinators, contribute to meaningful work, and build skills that set you up for a rewarding career.
💡 What You’ll Be Doing
Community Services Support
- Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the Community Services Department
- Organise stakeholder and service group meetings, prepare minutes, and follow up actions
- Maintain accurate records and databases in line with Council policies
- Assist with equipment hire and booking processes
- Help draft reports, documentation, and process improvement ideas
- Respond to information requests with accuracy and professionalism
- Support the delivery and processing of Council’s grant programs
- Participate in relevant team and stakeholder meetings
Community Initiatives & Events
- Assist with organising and delivering community‑based activities, launches, and special events
- Support the creation and distribution of promotional materials, publications, and workshop content
Volunteer & Community Engagement
- Assist with documenting and processing volunteer applications
- Support planning and delivery of community engagement programs
- Keep accurate records of engagement outcomes
- Respond to queries about community engagement initiatives
- Contribute to producing written and graphic materials to support engagement activities
Youth Engagement
- Work closely with the Community Development Coordinator to develop and support youth engagement initiatives
Customer Service & Relationships
- Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ensure all customers receive timely, accurate, and helpful information
- Provide general assistance to the wider Community Services team as needed
