The Data area acts as a support function and aids cross-functional teams in their customer missions and in the effective management and operation of the business. This chapter consists of capabilities surrounding data management and reporting, analytics, security and privacy and consent. Data management, reporting and analytics will be key to guide and inform the strategy and optimal customer engagement and will partner with the Technology, Customer and Operational Management teams. Privacy and consent and security and access will be crucial in ensuring data is being used correctly and ethically, working in partnership with the Corporate Privacy, Consent and Cyber Security teams.
The role of Senior Analyst will be part of a team leveraging our shared data asset, which is one of Australia’s largest retail data sets. This role will support Wesfarmers divisions to leverage this asset, to drive tangible commercial value by understanding our customers and improving the way we engage with them. You will need to be comfortable digging into the details of Wesfarmers data and finding the key insights that really drive our business forward.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop business relevant hypothesis and understand how to validate them.
• Identify key actionable data insights and translate them into clear business relevant recommendations.
• Work in an agile manner delivering key insights continually to the business and incorporating feedback to refine your data analysis.
• Create business enthusiasm and demand for the use of analytics through the effective communication and translation of analytical techniques into commercial concepts that can be easily communicated to and understood by business end users.
• Support business stakeholders in leveraging data insights in the best way possible enabling end-end data integration and value creation.
• Showcase, benchmark and quantify the value and outcomes of analytics-based decision making.
• Convert data and insights into meaningful stories that support the business leveraging data as part of their key decision-making processes.
• Provide operational support for existing analytics solutions as needed.
• Act as a trusted advisor by enhancing stakeholder understanding of analytics techniques and their business impact.
• Support and mentor data analysts in the team.
Skills, experience and attributes
• Data and analytics professional with a proven track record (5+ years) in the development and business use of analytics technology and working with large & complex data sets
• Track record in identifying, developing, and executing use cases that drive measurable business value
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to engage and influence business users
• Experience in leveraging customer attributes and data products to optimise marketing campaigns and measure uplift
• Proven ability to engage and influence stakeholders, communicating insights effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences
• A real and demonstrable interest in analytics and its application in a business context
• Proficiency in SQL and/or other analytics languages
• Experience with visualisation tools such as PowerBI, Tableau
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field
• Retail Industry experience will be highly regarded
• Experience with digital analytics and tag management tools (Google Analytics/Adobe/Tealium)
