About the team
Our Group Cyber Security team is responsible for leading strategy, architecture, risk and assurance approaches for cyber security across the Wesfarmers Group to ensure objectives are met and that we operate within risk appetite. In addition, the team coordinates incident response and intelligence activities across the Wesfarmers Group (for significant events) while partnering with our businesses to improve their cyber threat preparedness.
Reporting to our Cyber Defence Engineering Lead, this newly created full-time role will be based in Melbourne CBD.
What you’ll be doing
- Contribute to the development of detection engineering capabilities and support the design of mitigations
- Administer and manage cyber security tools and platforms to support our Cyber Fusion Centre
- Support the design and development of defensible architecture for our businesses
- Support our cyber security offensive team in executing security validation processes, as well as enhancing threat detection and prevention capabilities
- Assist in developing a Vulnerability Disclosure Program (VDP) and cyber defence engineering framework for the Wesfarmers Group
- Contribute to thought leadership as it’s relates to cyber defence engineering
What you’ll need
- Significant experience working as a Cyber Defence Engineer (on premise and cloud environments)
- Experience using scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, ELK and Splunk)
- Experience with security log and packet analysis
- Experience in designing, engineering and recommending cyber defence architecture, security monitoring and related operational capabilities
- Experience in threat detection and response, use case development and testing
- A curious mindset with a desire to learn the latest cyber and technology trends, threats and tactics (defence and offense)
- Be detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Be mission-oriented - you love what you do and have a passion for helping humans along to the destination
- Be a self-starter, and understand how to communicate and work as a team
- Tertiary qualifications in a Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a Cyber Security specialisation
Nice to have’s
- Experience working within a large, complex environment
- Experience in developing search queries within SIEM platforms (e.g. Elastic, LogRhythm and Azure Sentinel)
- Experience using open source detection tools (e.g. SIGMA, YARA and SNORT)
- Experience working under SOC environments
- Proficiency in detection and response platforms (endpoint, network, email, cloud and identity)
- Experience with cyber incident response situations
