The Group Technology Team at Wesfarmers is dedicated to driving innovation and delivering impactful solutions through the use of cutting-edge technology, automation, and data-driven insights.

Our team is structured into three main streams: Technology Operations, Strategy and Delivery, and Cyber Security. Each stream plays a crucial role in maintaining high availability, reliability, and performance of our technology services, overseeing technology projects that support long-term business objectives, and ensuring the security of our digital assets.

What you’ll do

This role is designed to enable seamless IT service delivery and to ensure that IT operations align with business needs for the Wesfarmers Corporate Office.

This third-tier technical role includes advanced troubleshooting, system maintenance, backups and upgrades, vendor management, documentation and knowledge management, and optimisation of corporate IT processes, infrastructure and applications.

Working with others in Group Technology including the Technology Systems Lead, Service Desk, and Infrastructure teams, you will:

  • Ensure the reliable operation of Microsoft 365, enterprise mobility solutions, and key business applications.
  • Provide technical expertise on cloud-based solutions, virtualisation, and collaboration tools.
  • Provide expert technical guidance on system configurations, performance tuning, and security best practices.
  • Act as a third-line escalation point for complex IT incidents, including diagnosing and resolving server, network, cloud, and application issues affecting business operations.
  • Conduct regular system monitoring, maintenance, and optimisation to ensure high availability and performance.
  • Apply patches, updates and firmware upgrades to maintain security and system integrity.
  • Support disaster recovery testing and failover procedures to enhance system resilience.
  • Assist in deploying new software, system enhancements, and integrations.
  • Identify and implement efficiency improvements, including automation wherever possible.
  • Maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and knowledge base articles to improve IT support efficiency.

About you

We are seeking a curious, self-motivated, technically proficient and high-integrity individual with sophisticated L3 troubleshooting skills and a track record of (and passion for) ensuring reliable, stable, optimised and performant IT systems.

Ideally you will arrive with:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field (preferred).
  • All the ‘basics’ of system administration including expert in practice capability with Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and virtualisation.
  • Comfort working in a hybrid or pure cloud environment.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Azure (or other cloud platforms), VMWare, Jamf and/or InTune and enterprise backup technologies.
  • Skills in Python and / or Powershell (or similar)
  • Robust awareness of the ITIL framework and a history of applying these principles in practice.
  • Recent success working in L2 / L3 troubleshooting and service operations.
  • Strong technical writing skills for SOPs, system guides, and knowledge base articles.
  • Mature communication skills desire to get out into the business to engage with your stakeholders.
