About the team

Within the Wesfarmers Corporate Office, our Corporate Affairs team has broad responsibilities, aligned with Wesfarmers reputation, including corporate communications and reporting, advancing our sustainability objectives, delivery of our reconciliation commitments, government and stakeholder engagement and community partnerships including the Wesfarmers Arts program.

What you’ll do

Reporting to our Head of Sustainability Reporting, this important role will help drive the Wesfarmers climate agenda and influence climate related initiatives and opportunities across the Group, as well as ensuring that we meet our climate reporting obligations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Communicate and problem solve with a broad set of stakeholders
  • Be the subject matter expert for our climate work, including energy, emissions and climate-related policy
  • Lead climate reporting – for diverse audiences including internal stakeholders, investors and regulators
  • Work collaboratively with our businesses on climate strategy and decarbonisation initiatives
  • Apply a commercial and long-term lens to influence the Wesfarmers Group direction and prioritisation

What you’ll need

  • Significant experience in a sustainability related role, preferably within a large complex environment
  • Strong understanding of climate reporting frameworks (locally and globally)
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in climate management and reporting, ideally including NGER experience 
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and verbal) along with influencing and presentation skills and an ability to communicate complex topics simply
  • Strong commercial, analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a drive for delivering results
  • Ability to collaborate with multiple organisational levels and stakeholder types
  • Comfort in managing multiple priorities and projects
  • An inquisitive mindset!
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline

Nice to have’s

  • Experience in using or implementing ESG data technology and systems
