About the team
Our Group Accounting team is responsible for the consolidation and analysis of the Wesfarmers Group accounts, management and improvement of finance systems, accounting and taxation matters for the Corporate Office, as well as providing a source of expertise for the Wesfarmers Group.
What you’ll do
Reporting to the Manager – Technical and Statutory Reporting, this role will:
- Lead the preparation of Wesfarmers Group statutory reporting including half year and full year financial statements and the external audit process
- Oversee the preparation of Audit and Risk Committee reports
- Oversee the annual impairment testing and impairment trigger review process for the Wesfarmers Group
- Provide technical accounting advice on complex issues to key stakeholders
- Support our Manager – Technical and Statutory Reporting with due diligence, acquisition accounting and business integration processes for the Group as required
- Develop and deliver technical accounting training programs for our businesses
- Lead the implementation of new accounting standards across the Group, and maintain Group Accounting policies in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards
What you’ll need
- Significant experience in financial accounting, including statutory reporting, interpretation of accounting standards and accounting for acquisitions and disposals
- Experience in a similar role within a commercial environment and/or a large accounting firm (preferably audit)
- A naturally inquisitive and analytical mind, and strong ability to problem solve
- Strong project management skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders across the business
- Outstanding level of attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise and meet agreed deadlines
- Be committed to continuous improvement and driving process efficiencies
- Tertiary qualification in Commerce or a related discipline and have completed CA/CPA accreditation
