An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and detail-orientated individual to join the Technology team at Wesfarmers Corporate Office. Reporting to the Cyber Security Engineering and Architecture Lead, this role will provide hands-on technical expertise across our Microsoft-centric environment, with a particular focus on strengthening security controls, maturing our cyber security posture, and embedding security-by-design principles across corporate systems and services.

This is a full-time position based in Perth.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate with corporate function leaders, technology team members, and engineering stakeholders to integrate cyber security considerations into technology decisions, project roadmaps, and day-to-day operations.
  • Provide in-depth cyber security guidance that balances business agility with security requirements, user experience, and compliance obligations across the Microsoft 365 and Azure environment.
  • Lead the configuration, hardening, and ongoing optimisation of Microsoft security capabilities, including Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Defender for Cloud, Microsoft Sentinel, Entra ID, Intune, and Purview.
  • Contribute to architectural reviews and evaluations of security tools and services, ensuring alignment with the broader corporate security strategy and Microsoft platform roadmap.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of the corporate cyber security roadmap, identifying high-impact security enhancements and emerging risk areas relevant to a corporate office environment.
  • Drive the implementation of security controls and automation across the Microsoft 365 and Azure suite, ensuring security-by-design and privacy-by-design principles are embedded into corporate systems and workflows.
  • Champion the adoption of new security capabilities, processes, and methods that strengthen the security posture of corporate applications, services, and data.
  • Support uplift initiatives across identity and access management, data governance, endpoint security, and cloud security within the corporate environment.

What You’ll Bring

  • Cyber Security Engineering: Five or more years of proven experience designing, deploying, and maturing cyber security solutions, with demonstrated depth across the Microsoft 365 and Azure security suite in a corporate or enterprise environment.
  • Microsoft Platform Expertise: Strong hands-on capability across Microsoft Defender products, Microsoft Sentinel (SIEM and SOAR), Entra ID (including Conditional Access and Privileged Identity Management), Microsoft Purview, and Azure Security Centre.
  • Security Architecture and Cloud Engineering: Demonstrated expertise in securing and hardening Microsoft Azure environments, applying zero-trust principles, and implementing scalable security architectures appropriate to a corporate function.
  • Strategic Security and Risk Management: Ability to balance security controls with business objectives, incorporating frameworks such as NIST CSF or ISO 27001 to manage risk and drive continuous security improvement.
  • Qualifications: Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a cyber security specialisation. Relevant Microsoft certifications (such as SC-200, AZ-500, or MS-500) are highly regarded.
  • Demonstrates integrity and ownership, ensuring ethical and transparent decision making.
  • Proactively addresses challenges, seeking continuous improvement and practical security outcomes relevant to a corporate environment.
  • Collaborates effectively across diverse teams, balancing security requirements with business objectives.
  • Maintains strong attention to detail while delivering results that are both technically sound and aligned to the needs of corporate function stakeholders.
