  • Build your career at the intersection of data governance, risk and AI
  • Help embed practical data governance across a complex, data-rich environment
  • Work across data governance, risk, assurance and business enablement

About the team

OneDigital plays a central role in enabling Wesfarmers to create value from its data, digital and AI capabilities, with customer trust at the core.

You’ll join the Digital Trust team, a cross-functional group spanning data governance, AI governance and privacy. The team develops and implements the strategies, frameworks and ways of working that support OneDigital’s loyalty, data, retail media and AI businesses, and key Group initiatives.

Working closely with Risk, Compliance, Assurance and Cyber, as well as Data, AI, Technology and Product teams, Digital Trust helps enable responsible use of data and technology while managing risk and supporting compliance.

About you

You bring practical experience across data governance, data risk or compliance, ideally within a data or technology-rich environment, and have supported the implementation and operation of governance frameworks.

You understand how data is managed across an organisation and are familiar with data governance concepts including ownership and stewardship, metadata, data quality and lineage. You’ll ideally have exposure to data governance or risk tools such as Alation, Atlan, Microsoft Purview, Securiti or Archer, and understand the role these tools play in supporting effective governance.

Structured and analytical, you’re comfortable interpreting regulatory, policy and risk requirements and translating them into practical, commercially grounded ways of working. You can engage credibly with both technical and non-technical teams, ask constructive questions and influence stakeholders to strengthen how data is managed and used.

What you’ll do

Based in Melbourne, you’ll work closely with other members of the Digital Trust team to support the development and operation of data governance and risk practices across OneDigital, helping ensure data is managed responsibly, risks are understood and governance requirements translate into practical ways of working.

  • Data governance: support the development, implementation and maintenance of data governance frameworks, policies, standards and controls, helping teams embed clear responsibilities for managing and using data.
  • Risk, compliance and assurance: support data risk and impact assessments, risk treatment plans and compliance monitoring, as well as assurance activities including evidence collection, control testing and documentation of findings.
  • Data governance tools and artefacts: help build and maintain the enterprise data catalogue and other governance artefacts, including system registers, risk logs and compliance trackers, working with teams to capture and maintain information including data ownership, metadata, lineage and quality.
  • Practical enablement: help translate regulatory, policy and risk requirements into clear guidance, processes and practical ways of working, and support workshops and training that help teams apply governance requirements in practice.
  • Stakeholder engagement: work with teams across Data, AI, Technology, Cyber, Risk, Legal, Product and Marketing, providing guidance to data owners and stewards and supporting the consistent adoption of data governance practices.
  • Reporting and improvement: monitor governance metrics, risks and control effectiveness, support reporting and briefing materials, and identify opportunities to strengthen policies, processes and controls.

What you’ll need

  • Data governance experience: demonstrated experience across data governance, data risk or compliance, ideally within a data or technology-rich environment, with practical experience supporting the implementation and operation of governance frameworks.
  • Data management knowledge: a sound understanding of data management and governance concepts, including data ownership and stewardship, metadata, data quality and lineage. Familiarity with frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK will be well regarded.
  • Risk and assurance: exposure to risk and control frameworks, including risk assessments, control testing, audit or assurance activities, will be well regarded.
  • Practical application: the ability to interpret regulatory, policy and risk requirements and translate them into clear, commercially grounded guidance and ways of working.
  • Stakeholder engagement: confidence working across technical and non-technical teams, constructively challenging where required and building support for effective governance practices.
  • Tools and technology: exposure to enterprise data governance, quality or risk tools such as Alation, Atlan, Microsoft Purview, Securiti or Archer, and familiarity with modern data, AI or GenAI environments.
  • Education: tertiary qualifications in business, data, technology, risk management or a related discipline.
