About the team
Our Group Accounting team is responsible for the consolidation and analysis of the Wesfarmers Group accounts, management and improvement of finance systems, accounting and taxation matters for the Corporate Office, as well as providing a source of expertise for the Wesfarmers Group.
What you’ll do
Reporting to our Team Leader – Tax and Treasury Accounting, and working closely with our Group Taxation team, this role is responsible for the tax compliance obligations of the Corporate Office.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparation of Corporate Income Tax returns, Fringe Benefit Tax return, Business Activity Statements and Payroll Tax returns
- Preparation of tax effect accounting calculations
- Collaborating with the Group Tax team and the broader Group Accounting team in relation to taxation matters
- Undertaking research and the provision of ad hoc advice
- Assisting with continuous improvement and implementation of effective tax compliance processes
- Assisting with the preparation of statutory accounts and management reporting
- Assisting with system administration for Finance software
- Participating in project work as required
To be successful for this role, you will:
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Show a high degree of attention to detail
- Be a self-starter and results focused
- Demonstrate well developed written and verbal communication skills
- Be team orientated, with a motivation to excel in your career
- Have 5+ years corporate taxation experience, gained in the Corporate Taxation or Private Clients division of a chartered accounting firm or corporation
- Be skilled in the practical application of tax legislation, as well as provision of advice on all areas of taxation compliance
- Have a sound knowledge of Federal and State taxation laws
- Demonstrate project management and research skills
- Have a degree in Commerce or a related discipline and have commenced or completed CA/CPA accreditation
