Manager – Health, Safety and Environment

Location: Molendinar

Kinetic is Australia and New Zealand’s biggest bus network. Every day we move people and enhance communities — and we’re proud to be recognised as an employer of choice.

We’re seeking a collaborative, hands-on Manager – Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) who genuinely enjoys working alongside others and supporting frontline teams. This role is ideal for someone who prefers being out in the depots, building relationships and working shoulder-to-shoulder with managers, drivers and workshop teams. Success in this position comes from being a true team player — someone who is approachable, practical, down-to-earth and not afraid to roll up their sleeves.

Reporting to the Regional General Manager (with a dotted line to the Head of HSE), you’ll be supported by one HSE Specialist, who we would like you assist in hiring, in the new year and will work closely with depot and workshop leaders to maintain a safe and compliant workplace.

Key responsibilities:

• Be a visible, hands-on HSE leader across depots and workshops

• Build strong, respectful relationships with leaders and frontline teams

• Provide practical advice and guidance that supports day-to-day safe operations

• Deliver cyclical health, safety and environment activities to minimise incidents and injuries

• Investigate incidents, problem solve and implement local improvements

• Ensure compliance with workplace regulations and applicable standards

• Foster a positive, team-based safety culture aligned with Kinetic’s values

What you’ll bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Health, Safety and Environment (or relevant discipline)

• Strong operational HSE experience — comfortable being out in the business, not behind a desk

• A collaborative working style with a genuine desire to be part of a team

• Humility and approachability — someone who supports others rather than managing from above

• Experience partnering with leaders and frontline employees on practical safety solutions

• Familiarity with quality management systems (AS/NZS4801, ISO14001, ISO9001)

• Current driver’s licence (essential) – with support available to gain your bus licence

• Highly organised, pragmatic and able to balance multiple operational priorities

Why Kinetic?

• A hands-on operational HSE role where you’ll be close to the action and make a visible impact

• Support from both a Regional GM and Head of HSE, with an HSE Specialist working alongside you

• Join a team of approachable leaders who value collaboration and lead by example

• Access professional development, including support to obtain your bus licence

At Kinetic, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive workplace. We encourage applications from people of all backgrounds, including women, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and people with disability.
