The opportunity:
Kinetic is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our high-performing workshop team.
This role is ideal for a qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic who is ready to take the next step in their career and become a hands-on leader within a busy bus depot environment. You will play a key role in supporting and developing a team of Apprentices, Trade Assistants and Heavy Vehicle Mechanics while ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient maintenance of our fleet.
Working on a modern fleet of buses, you'll be involved in everything from scheduled servicing and fault diagnosis through to major repairs and component replacements. No two days are the same, providing exposure to a wide range of maintenance activities and vehicle systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support workshop personnel to achieve maintenance and safety targets.
- Coordinate daily workshop activities to maximise fleet availability.
- Provide guidance, coaching and mentorship to Apprentices and Trade Assistants.
- Carry out servicing, diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on heavy vehicle fleets.
- Ensure all work is completed to company, manufacturer and regulatory standards.
- Promote a strong safety culture and maintain a clean, organised workshop environment.
- Build positive working relationships across operations and maintenance teams.
The boxes you’ll tick:
- Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent).
- MR Licence
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and repairing heavy vehicle fleets, preferably buses.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring or supervising Apprentices and Trade Assistants.
- Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership capabilities.
- Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across all levels of the business.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and continuous improvement.
