We’re looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our Melbourne Finance team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension. This role will be based across our head office on Collins Street and our North Fitzroy depot, so the successful candidate must be comfortable working across two locations.

What you’ll be doing

• Supporting the Management Accountant and Finance Manager with daily, monthly and annual accounting tasks
• Assisting with weekly and monthly financial reporting
• Managing bank reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable
• Analysing revenue and expenditure to contribute to cash flow forecasts
• Posting month-end journals and intercompany transactions
• Reconciling balance sheet accounts
• Liaising with auditors and internal stakeholders
• Providing backup support across the Finance team
• Supporting ad hoc projects and reporting as required

What we’re looking for

• A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
• Progress towards CA or CPA (or intention to start) is highly regarded
• At least 12 months' experience in a similar accounting role
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Well-developed organisation and time management abilities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
• Willingness and ability to work across two sites (CBD and North Fitzroy)
