This role is vital to the coordination and implementation of: Work Health and Safety activities to reduce the risk of incidents, injury or illness to our people, contractors, our customers, and the community; and the support for the Company’s Health, Safety, Environment (HSE) system, the Kinetic Way.
The opportunity
Kinetic are currently seeking an HSE Advisor to support our Kinetic Specialised Resources (KSR) team. This role is based in Mackay with regular travel to the Bowen Basin and other KSR locations periodically.
Reporting to our Manager HSE (CQ, SA & NT), this role will provide essential support in implementing and maintaining Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) programs and initiatives.
Working collaboratively with the Kinetic Health Safety Environment and Quality (HSEQ) team and operational staff, the Advisor will assist in promoting a safe and healthy work environment while contributing to the achievement of Kinetic's HSEQ goals and objectives.
What you'll be doing
- Provide practical, hands-on support and advice on safety matters, including incident investigations and risk management.
- Support the identification, elimination, and mitigation of workplace hazards and risks.
- Conduct regular inspections, safety audits, and hazard assessments across work locations, projects, and teams.
- Collate and report on HSE trends and outcomes, providing recommendations to the Manager – HSE for continuous improvement.
- Coordinate the local Safety Committee, ensuring effective monitoring and reporting on HSE performance across the business unit.
- Coordinate the HSE incident reporting and investigation framework, providing regular reports to management.
- Support the business unit in meeting HSE obligations under the Kinetic Way and maintaining ISO accreditation best practice.
- Contribute to the continuous review and improvement of the Kinetic Way, helping ensure safe work methods and reduced risk of incident or injury, particularly in high-risk areas.
- Coordinate internal and external HSE audits and develop action plans in response.
- Coordinate the local Emergency Management System and support the Chemical Management System.
- Maintain statutory registers and depot records relating to HSE documentation and data.
- Monitor and report on contractor safety and compliance.
- Collaborate with the People and Safety and Service Delivery teams to deliver key HSE initiatives and projects.
- Support the implementation of the business unit's HSE Strategic and Operational Plan.
What you'll bring to the role
- Bachelor of Occupational Health and Safety or related discipline or substantial relevant experience.
- Experience working with quality management systems – in particular AS/NZS4801, ISO14001 and ISO9001
- A sound knowledge and understanding of practice in HSE including demonstrated skills in carrying out audits, inspections, risk assessments and other HSE and wellbeing activities.
- Proven track record in successfully supporting leaders to manage workplace health and safety
- Experience in the implementation of HSE policies and work practices that are consistent with organisational policies as well as external regulatory requirements.
- Self-motivated with a demonstrated enthusiastic approach to day-to-day business operations and positive approach to a continual changing work environment.
- Strong computer literacy, MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Internal systems.
